Two common setups
AltaForma registers your domain
Included in the $499 setup (promo registration term, often 12–24 months). We manage DNS while site care is active. You get a license to use the domain for your business site — not ownership until transfer/buyout fees are paid.
You already own the domain
You stay the registrar customer of record. You grant us DNS access to point it at your AltaForma-hosted site. DNS setup is included in setup when we host the site.
Domain transfer timeline
You don't need to buy a domain separately to get started. Transfer is available when you're ready.
At launch
Domain points to your live site. AltaForma handles technical DNS. Focus on your business.
While site care is active
We renew and manage DNS. Keep site care paid current to stay online.
When you want full ownership
Request transfer or buyout. All transfer fees and outstanding invoices must be paid first. We initiate within ~10 business days after payment, subject to registrar policies.

Professional email
Site care does not include email hosting. Here are your options.
hello@yourbusiness.com via Gmail interface. ~$7–12/user/month. You sign up directly; we can help with DNS records (billable if after go-live).
Similar pricing. Good if you already use Outlook. DNS setup same story.
Basic forwarding or mailboxes from your registrar. Cheaper, fewer features.
Totally fine for launch. Your website still looks professional; email can upgrade later.

If AltaForma registered it: you have a license to use it while site care is active. Full ownership requires paid transfer. If you registered it: yes, you always did.
Site may go offline. Domain handling per Terms — transfer fees due, or domain may expire if not paid/stewarded.
