BePrepared.biz is the company. Personal Continuity Vault is the app.
That distinction matters. BePrepared has spent years teaching Personal Continuity Planning™ — a practical system for organizing critical information, preparing for disasters, and making legacy decisions before a crisis forces the issue. The workbooks and guidance were always strong. What customers needed next was a place to do that work on devices they control, without handing a lifetime of private details to another cloud product.
The name for that place is now clear: Personal Continuity Vault.
The product problem
Most “preparedness” software wants your documents in their database. That is convenient for the vendor. It is a bad fit for wills, account lists, medical wishes, and family instructions.
Personal Continuity Vault flips the model. The desktop app walks people through the three Personal Continuity Planning™ phases on Mac, Windows, and Linux. Plans and personal files stay local. BePrepared supplies the system and the blank tools — not custody of what you fill in.
That privacy story is not a footnote. It is the product.
What AltaForma is building with BePrepared
This is a full product engagement, not a brochure refresh.
1. The desktop vault
A guided hub for the PCP phases — critical information and documents, disaster scenarios and supplies, and legacy / end-of-life planning — designed so someone can work through the system over weeks or months without losing the thread. v1 is close. The Work row panel is there because the app is real enough to show, and close enough to ship.

2. The site, rebuilt around the Vault
The existing BePrepared storefront still serves customers today. In parallel we are rebuilding the public site so the brand, offer, and download path read as one product: company + Vault + honest pricing. The new site will tighten around the app as v1 lands — not the other way around.
3. Licensing that matches a local-first app
Offline files still need real purchases and seats. We built an Azure license hub that turns Stripe checkouts into activation keys and short-lived signed leases, without putting customer vault data on our servers. Deep dive: Azure license hub.
Why this is on our Work row
AltaForma’s public Work row is supposed to show what we actually ship — CMS products, Mac apps, games, and client builds that go past a landing page.
BePrepared sits in that last category for the right reasons: desktop software, cloud licensing, and a brand site that has to stay honest about privacy. It is the kind of project where design, engineering, and go-to-market have to stay in the same conversation.
We are close on v1. This journal entry is the public bookmark while we finish.
